This brief presents the findings of the first phase of a nationwide Emergency Food and Nutrition Security Assessment (ESAE) conducted by the World Food Program (WFP) in Colombia. The objective of the evaluation is to analyze the current situation of food and nutritional security of migrant populations and host communities (phase I) and of the Colombian population (phase II)1. Between June and August 2022, WFP completed the first phase of the assessment and conducted a total of 7,097 household and travel group surveys, ensuring representative samples for five population groups: i) Venezuelan migrants with a vocation for stay, ii) migrants Venezuelans in transit, iii) commuting Venezuelan migrants, iv) Colombian returnees and v) host communities. These surveys were carried out in 13 departments and 45 municipalities with a high concentration of Venezuelan migrants. Additionally, 44 focus group discussions were held with communities to better understand the factors that contribute to food insecurity and how they are impacting their lives. This assessment serves as a follow-up to the previous EFSA conducted by WFP for migrant populations and host communities in 2019. This exercise was implemented by the Centro Nacional de Consultoría, Bogotá, Colombia.
